Week 9

I went on a hike! It was at Finca El Pilar, and there was a nice pool to relax in afterward. There were a lot of butterflies on this hike, so next time I will bring my bug net. I went to a marimba lesson! There were two different marimbas, so my mom and I were on one, and my dad and my brother were on the other. I played the high part, and my mom the melody. But first we went to a mall that had these really cool racing games! There were toy cars, with video cameras on them, and there were seats where you controlled the car. You got to look through the video camera, and see where you were going. I crashed a lot, but that didn’t keep me from winning 1st place with 11 laps! There was also a movie theatre, but none of the “kid’s” movies were in English because all of them had been dubbed.

  1. Yet more new adventures! Video race cars and marimbas are probably not something you have access to at home so glad you are taking advantage of those things when you find them. I found some ripe persimmons today so there is a chance there may be some persimmon cookies coming with us! Have a good week. We’ll look forward to your next blog entry.

  4. Hi Niko, did you know the marimba is the national instrument of Guatemala? During some historical periods it was banned as a symbol of rebellion, like the bagpipes in Scotland. I think it's a great instrument! Gramma Dugan
