Week 7

I am trying homeschooling for the first time, and I like it pretty well. Today I went on a chicken bus tour, and saw a school, another marketplace, and a coffin shop! A very funny story happened while I was on that trip is that the tour guide said “Do you want to go to the coffee shop?” I said “sure!” because I wanted to see what it was like, but when we got there, I saw, like, twenty coffins! It turns out that she said “CoffIN shop” instead of “CoffEE shop” But it was still pretty cool. My dad is feeling better, thank you to every one who was worrying. I also went to the gym here just to see what it was like. It was a pretty big gym, with an upper level and a lot of equipment. I went to cooking school! It was EXTREMELY cool because my dad and I got to make traditional Guatemalan food and drinks. My favorite thing was the “Atole” a drink that can be sweet or salty. The sweet type tasted a lot like mildly sweet shredded wheat. I didn’t try the salty one, so I don’t know what it tasted like. There were also a dessert! It was fried plantains with chocolate sauce! I boiled and then mashed the plantains, then I folded the plantain paste into a dumpling shape, and then I took some homemade chocolate sauce, and put it in the dumpling shaped plantain. It was SO good!

  1. Your story about the coffin shop is very funny. I would have loved to have seen your face when all you saw was coffins! Hope you were not DYING for a cup of coffee....sorry for the bad word play.

  2. Talking about coffins... we are getting ready for Halloween here in Maryland. It's still warm during the day, but the leaves have started to fall. Maybe you'll be celebrating Day of the Dead in Guatemala. - Gramma Dugan
